Welcome to the Falun Mine!
In the visitor´s mine our guests are shown round galleries, pits and sunk shafts from bygone times. Dizzying depths and huge underground chambers meets the visitor. Tools, ladders and stairways from olden days are eloquent testimony to the hard work.
Around the huge Great Pit there are beautiful mining buildings, wheel houses, shaft heads and pivots.
The Mining Museum complements the history with fantastic models and other exhibitions.
Recommended time to spend at the Falun Mine area; 3-4 h in the summer season and 1,5 h in the winter season. Start of your visit is the Visitors Center, World Heritage House, book a guided tour in the mine (1 h), explore the Mining Museum, take a walk around the Great Pit (1,5 km), stop for lunch or coffee, visit some shops and craftsmen in the area. Opening hours varies a bit during season, a lot is open daily all year round.
