Creating positive social impact

It is hard to imagine a time when our country, city, and surroundings didn't have the rich history that now shapes our identity. The cultural heritage that has been passed down through generations is a source of pride and progress for our local communities. That's why we, at Falun, are committed to preserving this heritage and working together with the local community to develop Falun and its surroundings, recognizing that their involvement and support are essential to Falun's success. Here are some initiatives we are committed to:

  • School programs - all students should learn about World Heritage, talk about demography and what it is like in other countries' mines therefore all school programs in Falun include World Heritage.
  • Accessibility - everyone in the World Heritage of Falun is required to work with accessibility questions and make destinations and knowledge as accessible as possible. For example, there are special screenings for neuropsychological diagnosis.
  • Knowledge - Falun works actively to increase local communities' engagement in world heritage as well as develop knowledge about heritage value and preservation importance. Falun demands those living in the world heritage to take care of the world heritage environment and consider the cultural environment.
  • United action - the complexity of World Heritage management requires good cooperation between municipality, local companies and community. Therefore, to include everyone in the process has been a high priority and creating good communication lines and groups.

Reducing environmental impact

We believe that to protect the environment and achieve our mission we need to improve our footprint and create environmentally conscious practices to help reduce the impacts of climate change and promote a healthy ecosystem for all. Here are some initiatives we are committed to:

  • Knowledge - Falun demands those living in the World Heritage to take care of the world heritage environment and consider the cultural environment. There is a continuous analysis of risk factors and possible solutions.
  • Water cleaning project.
  • Continues research of the mine's influence on the area and the city.
  • Metal recycling.
  • Development of fire safety and prevention to avoid fires via cooperation with municipality and rescue services.
  • Transport - we work actively to ensure sustainable means of transport such as bus, train or renting a bike.
